Watchdog: Accident rate at Norilsk Nickel sites raises concerns
MOSCOW, Jul 3 (PRIME) -- The situation with accident rates at metals giant Norilsk Nickel’s facilities is alarming, ignoring it can lead to sad consequences, a number of serious problems require the adoption of comprehensive measures by the management, the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight said on Friday.
“In general, the situation with accident and injury rates was described as alarming. The presence of a number of serious problems was emphasized that required the adoption of comprehensive measures by the top management of enterprises, ignoring which, according to the speakers, could lead to even more sad consequences than the accident at the TETs-3 plant,” the statement said.
The watchdog demanded certain practical measures in industrial safety from Norilsk Nickel and ordered to prepare the relevant plan within a week.
